My grandmother use to tell me that I was never to young for lotions and potions. Like seriously, she always told me that I should pay close attention to my skin, drink plenty of water, and never miss my beauty rest. (Now that I'm older I can't get enough of nap's)
This was so true after I became a mom. The nights of sleep, food, and "me time" I took for granted prior to bring home a bouncing baby boy. Now, I'm all about taking time for me, my heath and skin.
I've adopted a very serious skincare routine over the past few years after my first facial experience. Can we just talk about how amazing a facial is. If you've never had one. GIRL !!!! You are so missing out. I highly suggest facials. Although we wash are faces everyday, sometimes we need a really luxurious deep clean, and a couple of cocktails right ladies. LOL. The benefits are glowing, soft, and plum skin. This way you don't have to worry about wearing so much make up to cover up you blemishes, and even out your completion.
I decided to share my top beauty skincare products that help me achieve a healthy glow and bring out a youthful look to my skin. Note: I have a combo to dry skin type. It's more on the dry side.
1. Facial Cleaners/Toners
Okay, so this is like my favorite category. There is nothing like a clean face. I prefer to use cleansing oils like Clinque's Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm. This stuff is amazing and removes all my makeup including liquid lipstick and waterproof mascara without over drying my skin. When I don't use a cleansing balm/oil, I reach for my Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing Gel with hyaluronic acid (thats like the longest product title ever :-). This cleanser gives my thirsty skin the hydration it needs. After I've cleansed my skin. I love to follow up with my rose toner by Lancome . A silky-soft moisturizing toner that gently purifies and immediately rehydrates my skin.
2. Moisturizers, Brightness, Primers, and sunscreen
These four products are essential to preparing you skin for your make up application. Your make up products are there to enhance your look, but you want a smooth and bright canvas to work on. As I have very sensitive skin Honest Beauty is a great brand that I like. It's all natural and refreshing.
This goes without saying, but sunscreen is a must in any routine. I have lite sun damage and being that I have lots of freckles. I must protect my skin, so don't skip this.
3. Wrinkle Creams
Aging is real ladies. There's nothing wrong with it (I'm 33 and proud). The fact is I will embrace my fine lines but still keep them at bay just for a little. LOL. Shiseido's WrinkleResist24 is golden and I have seen a big difference in my skin.
4. Facial Mists and Masks
Face mists are the perfect essentials to always have with you for setting your make up, touch up's, and giving your skin a boost of hydration and time. Pixi Rose Water Fixing Mist is great for before and after make up. Now masks are great for deep cleaning you pores, or replenishing the skin. Sephora has some amazing facial masks. Not sure what to get? I always suggest asking their beauty experts what would be great for your skin type and then get a sample to try before you buy. I tend to do a deep cleaning mask once a week, and a hydrating mask 1-2 times based on the season.
Having a beauty routine or investing in beauty/skincare can seem like something you don't think you need. Trust me you do and your skin will thank you for it. Taking these steps, coupled with drinking a lot of water will help you maintain healthy looking glowing skin, as well as slow aging. I hope sharing my tips and products will help you out if your looking to start a routine, or switch your products.
What are some of you favorite beauty/skincare products? (leave them in the comments) I'm always looking to try or add something new.
